How to Turn Off Subtitles on a Video
To turn subtitles on or off on Prime Video, start streaming a movie or TV show and press the Menu button on your remote to reveal the Options menu. Next, select Subtitles in the pop-up list. Finally, select the subtitle box in the bottom-left corner and choose Off.
- Start streaming a video.
- Press the Menu button on your remote. On a Fire TV remote, this will be the button with three horizontal lines.
- Select Subtitles from the Options menu.
- Select the subtitle box. You will see this option in the bottom-left corner of your TV screen.
Note: At the bottom of the screen, you can also change the size and style of your subtitles across Prime Video.
- Finally, select Off. Here, you’ll see all the available subtitle languages.
How to Turn Off Closed Captions for All Prime Video
To turn closed captions on or off, go to the Prime Video home screen and select the Settings gear icon on the far-right side of the menu bar. Then select Accessibility and choose Closed Captions. Finally, select Closed Captions to turn them Off.
- Go to the Prime Video home screen. To do this, press the Home button on your remote.
- Select Settings. This is the gear icon on the far-right side of the menu bar.
- Select Accessibility.
- Select Closed Captions. From here, you can also turn off Alexa Captions, VoiceView, and other captions settings.
- Turn closed captions Off. You will know closed captions are turned off if you see the word Off below.
If you turn Closed Captions on, you’ll see options to change your subtitle text and background style for all of Prime Video.
