How to Restart Your Fire TV with the Remote
To quickly restart your Fire TV device using the remote, simply press and hold the Play/Pause button and the OK/Select button (the button in the middle of the navigation ring at the top of your remote). When you hold both buttons for 10 seconds your device will automatically turn off and on again.
How to Restart by Unplugging Your Device
One of the easiest ways to restart your Fire TV device is to simply unplug it and wait for at least 10 seconds, and then plug it back in. However, your device will only restart if you unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. If you simply unplug your device from the TV, it won’t restart.
How to Restart Your Fire TV Through Settings
To restart your device through settings, press the home button on your remote and navigate to the settings icon on the right side of the menu bar. Then navigate down to My Fire TV and select Restart. Once you confirm, your Fire TV device will turn off and back on automatically.
- Press the Home button on your Fire TV remote. Press this button until you see the Fire TV home screen.
- Then press the right directional button until Settings is highlighted. You will see this on the far-right side of the menu bar. It will have your profile icon, and it might feature a gear icon.
- Next, press the down-directional button on your remote. This will open the settings menu.
- Then, select My Fire TV.
- Next, select Restart. You will need to scroll down using the down-directional button on your remote.
- Finally, select Restart.
